Narrative Developed From Media and Agency Reports

Dallas police told local media that another SUV first struck a pedestrian and propelled him into the path of a driverless Waymo traveling the opposite direction. He died. The SGO reports a fatality involving the Waymo; the police account describes a sequence involving both vehicles and is not a final fault determination.
